The evident and straightforward fact that the Savior in biblical accounts requests a kind of radical love concentrated on the poor has perpetually caused Christianity something of a controversial faith: attractive to the general public, but owing to its natural unconventionality requiring to be contained. During the 1950s it was controlled through watering down – Protestantism was so widespread that it essentially baptized the status quo.
